Ha. was there just this summer. Pretty impressive piece of pollution.
I asked the lady if I would lose my leg if I dipped it into the pit. She sorta smirked and sorta said don’t do it!

pH of about 2, so you wouldn’t loose your leg but likely would get a good rash and stain your skin. Would recommend an immediate clean water rinse.

2?! dayum. I got a little chemical burn this weekend messin around with CLR which is about 2.6. Long story short, its basically sulfuric acid, so wear gloves.

This is the Kalgoorlie Super Pit. Picture (Jordan Cantelo) dates from 2012 so the hole is quite a bit bigger these days...

This is where I work at, nearly ten miles across East to West. The tailings basin is what is on the North side.
